We went to see an afternoon screening of Asteroid City on 6th September. About half an hour before the end of the film there was a power outage. We were told we'd get a refund (which they couldn't process as the card readers weren't working either) but we've not had the refund yet. They're not responding to emails or answering the number we were given either. Customer service subpar, I mean why would you say you're going to issue a refund if you're not ...
I kinda liked this place! The coffee seemed like a nice place to hang around before or after the movie, and dogs are allowed! The movies are screen with a touch amateurish projectors in small rooms, capable of hosting maybe 20 people at a time, but the whole place has a kind atmosphere to it. The bean bags in the rooms are an especially nice touch! =)
Best cinema ever - no popcorn, no adverts before the movie start, no tourist mass movements... just an original tone movie in a georgeous cinema room, comfortable seats and a nice little vintage cafe inside the cinema building.
Just loved it!
Hint: take seats before row 8 bc of the light besides ;)
Art film cinema, cosy, intellectual crowd, many foreign films, Scandanavian festival every autumn is a must. Cheap tickets. Used to be great coffee place attached, pandemic victim.
Did not try out the cinema but went there for brunch and had a pleasant experience. Coffe and juice was good. Took quite som time to get our order and did not get everything right on the first try. In conclusion, tastes good but do not expect a quick visit.
The screen is kinda high, and projector is not that strong, so the movies are a little bit dark. The sound system can't keep up that much too. However, my experience going to a movie festival was good.
We booked a ticket into the small room (Kertész terem), because the tickets are the cheapest in whole Budapest. However it's basically an empty office room with a projector and a few uncomfortable dining chairs. Better to stay at home and watch movies on your laptop.
We went to watch Two Popes film there. Even though the movie had to be in English with hungarian subtitles, there were scenes where they speak in italian and by default there are also English subtitles for it. Unfortunately the screen was cut from the bottom so we couldn't see subtitles and understand half of the movie. Also the quality of the screen is poor and very dim. This made the whole experience even worse. Pay more for other cinemas to watch new films properly.
